The Minister of Planning and National DEVELOPMENT, Mr. Hassan Mohamed Ali (GAAFADHI), has awarded certificates of appreciation to Major-General Nuh Ismail TANI, Army Chief of Staff, and Jane Strangways, Programme Manager, Halo Trust, in a ceremony at Hargeisa Water Agency headquarters, for blasting hard rock which made the pipe laying works almost impossible between Horahadley- Geed Deeble and Geed Deeble – Hargeisa. The transmission main from Geed Deeble to Hargeisa was almost complete but the final 100 metres of the pipe-laying process has encountered very hard granitic rock and all the work has come to standstill.

The Minister of Water Resource Development, Mr. Mohamed Muse Dirie, Mr. Mohamed Ali Darod, General Manager of Hargeisa Water Agency,Mr. Anthony Njue, SDF Secretariat , Mr. Abdirahman Osman Hussein, Somaliland Programme Administrator of Halo Trust, Mr. Ahmed Musa, HWA Director of Planning, Ms. Ayan Hujale, Technical Support consultant at HWA, Mr. Ahmed Duale, Planning Consultant, HWA, Mr. Khalif Hussein, Project Manager, SDF, attended the ceremony.

Mr. Hassan Mohamed Ali, Minister of Planning and National Development, praised the Somaliland National Army and Halo Trust for coming to the assistance of Hargeisa Water Agency in a very crucial time when the Hargeisa Urban Water Supply Upgrading Project (HUWSUP) faced serious difficulties due to very hard rock in some parts of Horahadley –Geed Deeble and Geed Deeble –Hargeisa pipe-laying sites.

In his speech at the Ceremony, Mr. Darod has thanked the Army Chief of Staff and Halo Trust for supporting the Agency’s efforts in bringing clean and affordable water to Hargeisa city.
